Once upon a time, there was a god and a goddess who mated and produced a child so
incredibly wonderful that they could not behold the child's awesomeness for very long without straining their eyes.
"Egad," cried the father, "she is too amazing for Olympus; we must kill her."
"No," replied the mother, for she did not want this perfect being to be harmed.
"We should disguise her as a human and send her to Earth to live out her life."
To this, the god agreed.
And so it was that the girl came to live among mortals, suffering in silence until the day she may be permitted to join her true family in the clouds.
